Schedule

Exploring the A2CPS multimodal data resource

A 90-minute virtual workshop that introduces the study and cohort, highlights key baseline data, and walks through how to access and analyze it.

1:00 – 1:05 pm5 minutes

Introduction to the workshop

Martin Lindquist

Welcome, goals for the session, and a short video introducing A2CPS.

1:05 – 1:15 pm10 minutes

Introduction to A2CPS

Tor Wager

How the consortium is organized, what the program set out to do, and the study protocol and timeline: two surgical cohorts followed from before surgery to 12 months after, with biomarkers spanning psychosocial, sensory, omics and brain-imaging domains.

  • Organization: clinical centers, omics centers, the data integration and resource center, and the clinical coordinating center
  • Goals: biomarkers and signatures that predict susceptibility or resilience to chronic pain after surgery
  • Protocol and timeline
1:15 – 1:25 pm10 minutes

A2CPS in numbers

Martin Lindquist

Screening, enrollment and retention numbers for the total knee arthroplasty and thoracic surgery cohorts, and what is already in the public data releases.

1:25 – 1:40 pm15 minutes

Data highlights

Briha Ansari, Jamie, Patrick Sadil, Margaret Taub and others

Greatest hits of the baseline data: short presentations of findings that show what the dataset can do.

  • Brain-wide association studies (BWAS) across image-derived phenotypes
  • Brain age and its psychosocial, sensory and omics correlates
  • Comparison of cohorts and effect sizes across surgical populations
  • Immune transcriptome signatures, multi-omics correlates of fatigue, and more
1:40 – 2:10 pm30 minutes

Accessing A2CPS

Patrick Sadil, Martin Lindquist, Ahmed Hassoon & Tyle Newtonr

Three hands-on segments on getting the data and getting started with it.

Navigating the NIMH Data ArchivePatrick Sadil & Martin Lindquist. Finding the A2CPS study, filing a data access request, and downloading data.5 min
Starter kitsPatrick Sadil. Brief tutorials, in R, Python and shell, for each data modality, from tables of measures to imaging derivatives.10 min
LLM-based toolsAhmed Hassoon & Tyler Newton. Using large language models to explore the data dictionary, write analysis code, and accelerate discovery.15 min
2:10 – 2:30 pm20 minutes

Discussion and questions

Moderated by Stephani Sutherland

Open discussion with the presenters and consortium members. Bring the research questions you would like to ask of the data, and questions about access, analysis, and collaboration.

Times are Eastern Time (US). The workshop is held online; the video link will be posted here and sent to registrants before the session. Slides and a recording will be linked from the Resources page afterwards.
